June 20, 2012 Summer Solstice

Controller Bay
It is 48 hours after we left the Marquesas' Controller Bay. We spent about 12 of those hours sailing and for the rest, there is NO WIND. No wind = no cool breeze = sweltering + engine noise & heat = CRABBY. I will say that with no wind the seas are flat which means things you set down stay there.  We are spending lots of time trying to get the Furuno Weatherfax to work.  Also, lots of time trying to figure out where to go in the Tuamotus. That's right. We have 78 atolls spread out over a thousand miles and we haven't chosen a destination yet. We now must factor in obtaining fuel, gazole to be precise.  We are hot and tired.  I forgot to tell you; in the Marquesas there are baskets filled with tern eggs for sale.  Why can't they eat the eggs of those stupid chickens?! They could do with a few less roosters crowing.

Whose dumb idea was this, anyway?!

Wow! Check out Jupiter and Venus in the NE low 0430. The sun has made a yewy (U turn) and is headed our way. We don't need it but the people in NZ will appreciate it.
