Day 6 of the voyage

Nothing to see, nada.

Do not come to the mid-Pacific for birdwatching – we have only seen three birds in the past five days. The wind is 5-8 knots = motoring = noise and diesel exhaust fumes = grrr and bad feelings about the reason we delayed this trip for one year making us miss the enhanced trade winds and suppressed convection of a La Nina year that occurred last year. Enough of that.

Now that we are as far south as Hawaii we are starting to thaw. Last night was still freezing but today we look forward to a bath in the warm cockpit. We fill up 32 oz Pepsi cups with hot water and pour it on each other = fun!

I sleep from 8 pm to 3 am and take an hour nap in the morning. Barry sleeps about 330 am until 830 am and sleeps 3 hours in the afternoon. While he sleeps, I do boatkeeping, check the radar (always nothing) the weather fax, plot our course, do inventory and office work while listening to loud music and audiobooks. A great life (when no motor is running). We can waste time, play free cell, spider and AngryBirds, be rowdy and loud and who's to know!

Still nada out here. Will has taken over steering because Monty does not work when he has no wind for power. If you remember back to our last trip we called our WH autopilot "Will" because WH stands for Will Hamm on Bainbridge Island, WA and he makes a bullet proof autopilot. Also back in 2000, I remember Osama bin Laden being interviewed on the Voice of America and he said he was going to blow up the World Trade Center.I guess the CIA, etc. was not listening to VOA at the time!
