Wednesday, May 9: We are happy, healthy, and safe. The world
here is so clean!! My dude is so smart and we have a good boat! Position : 25 43.48' N, 123 40.56' W Speed : 4.6 knots, Course : 260 degree
A wind vane...for reference. |
Friday, May 11: No wind! Barry is worried that Vince and his family
will get to Rangiroa (Aug 1) before we do. Just joking, I hope, but not
entirely. Thursday afternoon the wind got down to 2.7 knots and boat speed was only
0.01 knot. So calm that Barry climbed off the boat onto the Monitor wind vane
to fix it. I took a picture.
It is very helpful to have engaged the services of the
weather router. They give you an 8 day forecast with such details as
"Probable motoring Thursday & Friday". After a night of
"winds" less than 3 knots and incessant unpleasant motoring we are
excited this afternoon to be getting 5 knots. We let out the main. The
little whiff of air that we have (rather than wind) is coming from the NE
now, a few times even from the E.
Bird Alert!! Barry sees a Red-tailed Tropicbird and it sees
us. It flew in several tight circles closely observing us then flew off to tell
its friends, "You will never believe what I just saw!"
Position : 23 15.48' N, 127 03.96' W Speed : 5.4 knots, Course : 209 degree
